Shiley™ Speaking Valves - SSV

Shiley™ speaking valves help facilitate easier vocalization for alert, awake patients who are independently breathing. Designed for use on alert, awake tracheostomy patients who can breath without assisted mechanical ventilation. The unit connects to 15mm connector on tracheostomy tubes. Directs airflow past the vocal cords, giving patients the ability to speak without finger occlusion. Increased ability to smell and swallow are promoted with the air flow through oral and nasal chambers while decreasing secretions. When compared to finger occlusions, hygiene and infection concerns are decreased. The lightweight materials and construction may reduce additional pressures on stoma site. The connector on this unit adapts to most tracheostomy tubes including pediatric sizes.
